How to plan a tropical fruit processing line for mango, pineapple and passion fruit
When a factory plans a tropical fruit processing line, the first discussion often starts with a pulper, crusher, or sterilizer. For mango, pineapple, passion fruit, guava, papaya, and similar materials, that is usually too early. The line should start from the fruit itself.
Different tropical fruits behave differently in production. Mango brings stone removal, fiber control, maturity variation, and oxidation risk. Pineapple needs proper peeling, core handling, crushing, and juice or pulp separation. Passion fruit requires seed separation and aroma control. Guava and papaya may create higher viscosity and more pressure on pulping, pumping, sterilization, and cleaning.

The pretreatment section decides whether the rest of the line can run smoothly. Washing, sorting, peeling, destoning, coring, crushing, and conveying should match the raw material condition. If maturity changes too much, yield, color, flavor, viscosity, and fiber level may change from batch to batch.
Pulping and refining should not be treated as simple crushing. Tropical fruit products may require different screen sizes, holding time, deaeration, enzymatic treatment, or homogenization. A puree, NFC juice, concentrate, beverage base, and industrial ingredient do not always need the same process.
Sterilization and filling also depend on product behavior. Low-viscosity juice, high-viscosity puree, and products with fine fiber or particles need different heat transfer, holding time, pump, pipeline, valve, and CIP/SIP considerations. If the project uses aseptic filling, the aseptic tank, filling interface, and packaging format should be checked together.

Packaging changes the line direction. Bulk ingredients may use BIB, bag-in-drum, or IBC aseptic bags. Retail products may require bottles, pouches, or cups. Each option affects filling method, storage, logistics, downstream usage, and factory turnover.
Many customers also ask whether one line can process several tropical fruits. It may be possible, but it depends on residue, screen changes, cleaning changeover, pipeline dead corners, sterilization conditions, and flavor carryover. A multi-fruit line needs more careful planning than a single-product line.
Before requesting a quotation, factories should prepare a raw material list, maturity range, target product, whether seeds or fiber should remain, concentration requirement, packaging format, storage method, plant layout, and utilities such as steam, water, power, compressed air, and drainage.
A tropical fruit processing line is not a row of machines. It is a system for handling seasonal raw materials, controlling product quality, switching between products, sterilizing safely, filling correctly, and keeping the factory practical to operate.
