The actual sequence is confirmed after reviewing the raw material and packaging route. For example, filtration temperature can affect fat behavior, filter loading, pressure drop, clarity and flavor. A clearer product may require a different separation or membrane-filtration route from a naturally cloudy NFC product.

Process Decisions That Affect Product Quality

  • Coconut variety, maturity, origin, season and storage time can change flavor and composition.

  • Cold and warm filtration can create different clarity, filter-loading and operating results.
  • Sterilization temperature and holding time must be validated for the actual product and package.

Project Learning

South Asia Project Observation: Filtration and Turbidity Control

In a South Asian coconut-water project, the operating team compared filtration after heating with filtration after cooling to improve product clarity.

During the on-site review, the earlier warm-filtration route showed lower pressure drop and more stable flow, with reported finished-product turbidity around 15-20 NTU. After the route was changed to colder filtration, reported turbidity moved to around 5 NTU, but filter blockage increased and flow declined more quickly.

The observation showed that a clearer product can require a different operating balance. Filtration temperature, fat state, pressure drop, consumable use, throughput, holding time before thermal processing and microbial control must be evaluated together. The figures above describe one project observation and are not a guaranteed result for other raw materials or lines.

Capacity is engineered for each project. We first confirm whether the capacity is measured by whole coconuts, incoming coconut water or finished product, then balance the front-end, filtration, thermal processing and filling sections.
